Sustainability

For BSK & Lakufol, sustainability has been a priority for decades. Being part of the agricultural sector this is just natural demand.

Already at the beginning of the nineties, Lakufol was involved in the recycling and re-use of packaging films.

Already in 1992 a separate recycling plant was set up in the city of Merseburg to strengthen this sector. The plant was equipped with washing facilities, which allowed the recycling of soiled material. Even then Lakufol collected considerable quantities of silage stretch film from the end customer and made use of it in its in-house recycling.

This experience in the film recycling sector culminated in a collaboration with the district Nuremberg Land in 1993, for which Lakufol developed a collection system for various light fractions made of plastics, paper and cardboard and provided the know-how for the recycling of the collected plastics.

At Lakufol, so-called "post-consumer-waste" was already processed in production processes more than 25 years ago. At a time when the term did not yet exist in its present meaning.

Based on many years of experience with recycling, the use of recycled material in Lakufol films is a matter of course and does not have to be proclaimed as a great new development. Today Lakufol has own recycling facilities, which enables us to integrate recyclable material into the production process.

Especially, with our stretch film for the "waste bale packaging" this raw material finds a useful purpose.
